Habitat is working with the Town of Great Barrington and the Great Barrington Affordable Housing Trust to develop a community of 20 single-family homes on a property off of North Plain Rd called PROSPERITY WAY.  

Each single-family home will be energy-efficient, built for affordable heating and cooling mini-splits. All 20 homes will have full-home water filtration systems built in. Choose between ranch and two-story designs and 3 or 4-bedrooms. The homeowners will form a condo association where YOU will decide on community amenities and maintenance options. 

Applicants for these homes will need to be within the 65% to 100% Area Median Income (AMI) range for Great Barrington. Qualified applicants will be entered into a Fair Housing Lottery (dates to be announced) that will determine who has first right of refusal to purchase the home.  Preference will be given to families who can use all bedrooms.   

If you decide to pursue homeownership with Habitat, applications are available online, in our office, and by mail (see link below). Completed application packets should be returned to our office in person or by mail, never electronically for your security. There are supporting documents required to complete a full application (see link below) but all copies or printouts can be made at our offices. You must obtain a pre-approval from a third-party lender recognized by Habitat. All Habitat homebuyers go through rigorous screening including credit and background checks, employment verification, landlord references, and a home visit.
